When you send a Florist flowers...

About two months ago, our little family became a bit smaller. Our sweet chocolate lab, Carob, became ill quite literally overnight. After an emergency surgery and three days under the ever watchful eye of our amazing veterinarian, it became clear that Carob would not recover, and the heartbreaking decision to put our sweet girl to sleep became a reality. She was only eight years old and had been a part of our life since rescuing her at eleven months of age. In the days that followed our goodbyes, every emotion ran through our household. As we wound down from Thanksgiving and started putting up decorations for Christmas, our doorbell rang one Friday afternoon. My husband went to answer the door with our son running after him; a few seconds later my husband said "Sarah, it's for you." With the most puzzled look on my face, I went to the door and found a delivery lady holding the most beautiful floral arrangement. As I signed for the arrangement, closed the door, and headed back into the kitchen, I couldn't help but think "Who in the world is sending ME flowers?" As I opened the card and read the message, tears filled my eyes. Our sweet and dear friends, Jen and Aaron, sent us flowers to say how sorry they were to hear of Carob's sudden illness and passing. It was at that very moment that I knew I had chosen the perfect career. To see those beautiful flowers and accompanying card and feel the emotions I did was If my designs can have the same effect on my clients then I know I've done my job as a floral designer.

Confucius was right..."Choose a job you love and you'll never work another day in your life."
